Biology 189A is a comprehensive survey course that introduces students to many facets of biology as it prepares students who are human health science majors and/or pre-nursing. The topics covered during this semester-long course include: a discussion of the diversity of life; the chemistry essential for biology; cellular structures, functions and processes; an introduction to genetics, inheritance and human genetic diseases; and evolution. Satisfies the Natural Sciences Core Curriculum.
Co-requisite: BIOL 189L; Recommended: MATH 120 or higher.
